What does it take to be a winner? Are you ready to rise above the challenges and experience
the blessing?
When my husband and I first got married, we lived in lack and want. We were leading defeated lives because we didn't know who we were in Christ. But when the Word of God came into our lives and transformed us, we saw that we didn't have to struggle any longer.
In the book of Genesis, God declared this over Abraham: “And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: and I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed” (Genesis 12:2-3).
Abraham was going to be both blessed and a blessing. Our families are blessed because of faithful Abraham. This scripture doesn’t say that only a select few and their families will be blessed - it says all families. There are no exceptions.
So many times, Satan lies to people, telling them that certain scriptures don’t apply to them, when the Word of God says that all families will be blessed. In these moments where Satan tries to deceive us, we must declare by faith God’s blessing and favor.
This is what it takes to be the winner God has created you to be. It doesn’t just happen automatically, and it isn’t going to be a stroll in the park. No, the only way to be a winner is to stand and fight the good fight of faith.
Victory only comes on the other side of a battle.
Having God’s blessing and favor doesn’t mean you won’t face hardships and challenges. Jesus warned in this world you’ll have troubles (John 16:33), but it is the blessing and favor of God that empowers you to be more than an overcomer.
Jerry often referred to God’s blessing and favor as the “winning combination.” God’s blessing and favor will bring you victory in even the most impossible situations.
With God’s blessing and favor, you can overcome anything.
How do these two gifts from God work together to be a winning combination? The blessing of God is the empowerment to prosper, while the favor of God creates the opportunity for it to happen.
How can you lose when you have these two powerful forces working on your behalf?
I want to see you learn the principles that have propelled my life and this ministry into God’s best. I want to see you and others step into God’s blessing and favor.
Everyone has the right to know that they were born to be blessed and be a blessing.
Don’t hoard up the blessing just for yourself; one of the greatest joys in this life is to bless others. Oh, how Jerry and I have loved surprising people with a blessing. We’ve paid off church buildings, covered medical expenses, purchased vehicles, and helped many families in need.
One time, Jerry and I went to eat at a local restaurant. As we enjoyed our meal, we sensed through the Holy Spirit that our server had a need. So, we gathered whatever money we had between us, and when she came back to the table, we told her that God put it on our hearts to be a blessing and gave it to her. At that moment, she began to weep and told us her struggle of being a single mother that was three months behind on her rent. Before we left, we also gave her everything she needed to catch up on rent. The joy that filled our hearts was indescribable!
That’s what being a blessing is all about!
When you live to be a blessing to others, God just keeps on pouring out more and more blessings. Proverbs 11:24 reveals, “One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.”
When you bless others, God will abundantly bless you. This is the cycle of the blessing.
I wrote a book years ago titled, Born To Be A Blessing. In it, I wrote about how you are an instrument through which God’s divine favor flows to stop misfortune in the lives of those around you. There is no greater honor or privilege than that of being a blessing to someone in need.
Look for opportunities each day to be a blessing to someone.
Receive the blessing and favor of God today; allow that combination to cause victory and winning in your life and become a river of blessing to others.
