What Is Love?
1 John 5:3 – “For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.”
To walk in love is to walk in the Word.
2 John 6 (AMP) – “And what this love consists in is this: that we live and walk in accordance with and guided by His commandments (His orders, ordinances, precepts, teaching). This is the commandment, as you have heard from the beginning, that you continue to walk in love [guided by it and following it].”
God’s love is keeping His commandments, walking in the light of the Word.
1 John 3:23 – “And this is his commandment, that we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.”
Walking after the Word causes you to know how to love as God loves. John 14:21 – “He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.”
We have been given God’s love manual.
Love Becomes Active Through Knowledge of the Word
You are the love of God by nature.
1 John 4:7-8 – “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God” (v.7).
Faith and love are born into you but will lie dormant if you do not act on the Word.
Philippians 1:9 – “And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment.”
The love of God is released in your life by acting on the knowledge of God’s Word.
Without revelation knowledge, love lies undeveloped and selfishness continues to reign.
Perfected Love
1 John 2:5-6 – “But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him” (v.5).
As you act on the Word, the love of God is perfected in you.
Through the Word, the Holy Spirit manifests the love nature of the Father in you.
As you adhere to the message of love, God’s love will flow from you to others.
How accurately you perfect the love walk will measure how much of the perfect will of God you accomplish.
Faith Works By Love
Galatians 5:6 – “For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.”
Answered prayer is almost an impossibility when a believer refuses to forgive and avoid strife. Mark 11:22-26
Without love:
Tongues are just noise.
Gifts of the Spirit will not function accurately.
Faith will not work.
Your giving is of no avail. 1 Corinthians 13:1-13
Agape Love
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (AMP)
You are a love creature, born of love. You have received the Spirit of God to live in you and teach you how to love with agape love.
Become love-conscious by confessing and acting on God’s Word concerning His love.
Make a Quality Decision
Make the decision of faith, and commit yourself to obey God’s Word.
There may be times when you would rather do anything than allow love to rule.
It would be much easier to go ahead and get mad and retaliate in strife.
You must demand that your senses be subject to the Word.
After making the decision, the most powerful thing you can do in perfecting the love walk is to continually confess that you are the love of God.
Learning to Respond in Love
The God-kind of love will begin to influence all that you say and do.
When someone says something unkind to you, you are not touchy, fretful, or resentful. You take no account of that, and you will walk free.
When you hear gossip about your brother, you do not rejoice at unrighteousness. Instead of telling what you heard, you cover or hide it for his sake.
Proverbs 17:9 (AMP) – “He who covers and forgives an offense seeks love, but he who repeats or harps on a matter separates even close friends.
You believe only the best of everyone.
